We all grew up with the saying that “a dog is man’s best friend”, would you agree?  I have had a few dogs in my day and I can say that every one of them provided me with unique unconditional companionship that will never be replaced or emulated again by any other dog or person in the world.

Do you have a best friend that you can truly count on to be there for you when you need them the most and that will be devoted to you in your time of need and give to you unconditionally and not ask for much in return.  A friend like that is hard to find nowadays.  I have found it strikingly odd that in the best of times our friend are always there for us laughing, smiling, and carrying on with us but the moment that the chips are down and we really need them that all of a sudden they are nowhere to be found, always have something else going on, or are completely unwilling to help  you out.   Have you ever had that happen to you.

If you are considered someone’s best friend then go all the way or don’t “fake the funk” by being their best friend one minute and then turn your back on them the next because it is an inconvenience for you.  Whether you want to believe it or not, one day you may actually need their help too and what do you think they are going to do.  Well, I’m not sure what will happen depending on the relationship you have with that person but it will go either one of two ways.  They will either help you or turn their back on you just the same as you did.  So my advice to you is choose your friends wisely, but never let them down.  You must always be willing to give unconditionally even when it’s all on the line.

Happy New Year and with the new year comes new year resolutions that I know we are going to faithfully keep. What are your resolutions? Before you answer that, I know that we will all resolve to lose weight, exercise more, take those college classes we been putting off, be better parents, be more proactive, and so forth. As we are all set to start working on those new year resolutions, the one thing I would like you to focus on is exercise. Now you are thinking, that is so typical, we always say that we need to exercise more and we are correct. I don’t mean just in the physical aspect but the mental and intellectual aspect as well. We need to exercise our minds as well as our bodies. You can do this by doing the following:

• Read a book
• Visit a blog
• Gain valuable knowledge and insight from a website such as Leadertank.com
• Start a conversation with a respected professional ,peer, or even a stranger
• Watch an informative video or television show
• Learn something new with your child by reading and/or engaging in a learning event with them from a book, video, or an application
• Start a debate with someone and watch how it unfolds with both individuals learning something

These are just a few tips to help you exercise your mind. Be creative and join the conversation by posting your thoughts and ideas on how to exercise your mind. I look forward to connecting with everyone as we learn new tips and techniques on how to exercise the mind.

“CREATE EVERLASTING MEMORIES”

Don’t get so caught up in the memory of how things used to be in the past that you can’t create new memories to enjoy in the future.  There are people that walk around moaning and groaning about how things used to be all the time.  They reminisce constantly about “the good life” they used to have and that “today’s life” is so miserable.

The thing you have to understand is that all those memories in the past that we cherish so much were created, and created by you.  So, my challenge to you is create new memories today that you will cherish tomorrow because if you don’t get out there and make it happen, you will not have those memories to enjoy.

“Anyone can destroy something, but not everyone is building something”

There is a lot of negativity going on in the world today.  From the news, newspapers, internet, radio, and television we can get our fill of all the bad things that are destroying our society.  Not very often are there any stories of hope, inspiration, motivation, and anything that is going to bring a tear to our eyes and make our hearts drop.

As a society we have grown to feed off this negativity and often go through great lengths to observe it, read about it, listen to it, partake in it, and even worse condone it.  It’s time that we put a stop to all this nonsense and start setting a new example for the world.

We need to quit focusing on all the things that are destroying us and see what we can build because our future, our children’s future, and future generations to come depend on the example we set now.  Now is the time for change, now is the time to step up, now is the time to put negative destruction in its place and build a brighter, happier, more peaceful future.

But we cannot do this alone.  It is going to take a team of highly motivated, truly dedicated LEADERS doing their part that will make the difference in the bigger picture of things.  Join the conversation now by answering any or all of the questions below.

  • What are you going to do today that will make a difference in building our future?
  • Who is going to stop being a part of the problem and become a part of the solution by stepping up and being a leader in their circle of influence?
  • How has your Leadership influenced someone to make a difference?
