Have you ever noticed that every time you run across someone either in passing, at the check out counter, or within a conversation with a friend or family that the first question that comes out of their mouth is “how’s your day or how you doing”? Usually the response is “I’m ok, fine, fair to middling, great, outstanding, fair to partly cloudy, moderately neato, some other positive remark, or a sarcastic negative response”.

I’ve always been intrigued by that. It’s almost as how someone’s day is going will determine how the conversation is going to go. If someone is having a good day then the conversation is usually quick, to the point, and done. But if someone is having a bad hair day then the conversation will go one of two ways. One it could go the way of you are a sympathetic ear and will listen to every word this person has to say as they dump all their problems onto you because you brought up the question. Or, two it could cause a really awkwardly tense moment and you try your best to get out of the conversation by either looking at your watch or creating something else you have to do and you have to leave now.

This question is a great conversation starter or ender depending on how you look at it. But, if you are not prepared for the person to really tell you how their day is, then I suggest you don’t use this as a conversation starter because it could start a whole different thing than you originally intended. Usually I veer off to my next question/conversation starter which is “what about this weather we’re having”, which has the exact same potential for either a negative or positive response. So I am still wondering is there a better way to start a conversation, and if so what is it?

“Anyone can destroy something, but not everyone is building something”

There is a lot of negativity going on in the world today.  From the news, newspapers, internet, radio, and television we can get our fill of all the bad things that are destroying our society.  Not very often are there any stories of hope, inspiration, motivation, and anything that is going to bring a tear to our eyes and make our hearts drop.

As a society we have grown to feed off this negativity and often go through great lengths to observe it, read about it, listen to it, partake in it, and even worse condone it.  It’s time that we put a stop to all this nonsense and start setting a new example for the world.

We need to quit focusing on all the things that are destroying us and see what we can build because our future, our children’s future, and future generations to come depend on the example we set now.  Now is the time for change, now is the time to step up, now is the time to put negative destruction in its place and build a brighter, happier, more peaceful future.

But we cannot do this alone.  It is going to take a team of highly motivated, truly dedicated LEADERS doing their part that will make the difference in the bigger picture of things.  Join the conversation now by answering any or all of the questions below.

  • What are you going to do today that will make a difference in building our future?
  • Who is going to stop being a part of the problem and become a part of the solution by stepping up and being a leader in their circle of influence?
  • How has your Leadership influenced someone to make a difference?

“You should aspire to get better all the time”

If you want to make a big impact on something you should start small and work you way up by getting better all the time.

Taking small steps along the way will allow for you to make huge strides over time.  As long as you focus with the end result in mind and make improvements all the time you can build future success in small doses.

The thing to keep in mind is that you are not going to immediately get the results you want.  If you want to make a difference you have to work at it.  This makes discipline and the determination to go the distance regardless of circumstances, situation, or obstacles along the way paramount to your success.

As you are on your journey make small, realistic goals and as you achieve them, make sure you reward yourself.  But, whatever you do don’t quit, give up, or slack off because of progress.  You should remain vigilant and ready at all times.

If you do this, you will soon find that you are better off than you were before by making continuous, physical, conscious efforts that will lead to the results you set out to achieve.
